# Codex

> Add ManyPI to the OpenAI Codex CLI.

Codex starts MCP servers as local processes, so ManyPI is reached through
`mcp-remote`, a small bridge that runs with `npx`. You need Node.js installed.

<Steps>
  <Step title="Edit the config">
    Add to `~/.codex/config.toml`:

    ```toml theme={null}
    [mcp_servers.manypi]
    command = "npx"
    args = ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.manypi.com/mcp", "--header", "Authorization: Bearer mpi_your_api_key"]
    ```
  </Step>

  <Step title="Restart Codex">
    Start a new `codex` session. Run `/mcp` to see ManyPI and its tools.
  </Step>
</Steps>

<Note>
  Replace `mpi_your_api_key` with a key from **API Access** in the profile
  menu. It needs `read`, plus `agents` to find leads, `write` to draft emails
  and create sequences, campaigns and imports, and `outreach:send` to send.
  See [API keys and permissions](/platform/api-keys).
</Note>

## Try it

Ask your assistant something like:

```
Find 25 boutique fitness studios in Denver with an owner or manager email,
then draft a three-step sequence offering them a free trial week.
```

<Columns cols={2}>
  <Card title="Recipes" icon="book-open" href="/mcp/recipes">
    Full conversations from ideal customer to launched campaign.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Tool reference" icon="wrench" href="/mcp/tools">
    Every tool, its arguments and what it does.
  </Card>
</Columns>
